Teaching Experience
Dr. Strand is active in the education of residents and medical students and provides lectures for medical students at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. He has an academic appointment with the University of South Dakota as a Clinical Assistant Professor
Special Interests
Dr. Strand has an interest in general surgery; breast disease; laparoscopic procedures; sclerotherapy; trauma care; peripheral vascular surgery; general thoracic surgery; gastrointestinal surgery; stereotactic breast procedures; surgical oncology including sentinal lymph node biopsies; endoscopy; obesity surgery including gastric bypass and laparoscopic adjustable banding; and general surgery. He has special training in lymphoscintography and gastric bypass surgery.
Family
Dr. Strand and his wife Carlen have 2 children. He enjoys hunting, classic cars and spending time with his family, watching his children participate in hockey games.
