
DAVID A. STRAND, MD, FACS
Teaching Experience
Dr. Strand is active in the education of residents and medical students and provides lectures for medical students at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. He has an academic appointment with the University of South Dakota as a Clinical Assistant Professor.
Special Interests
Dr. Strand has special interest in Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) and other minimally invasive surgery including general surgery; breast disease; sclerotherapy; trauma care; general thoracic surgery; gastrointestinal surgery; stereotactic breast procedures; surgical oncology including sentinal lymph node biopsies; endoscopy; thyroid surgery; and obesity surgery including gastric bypass and laparoscopic adjustable banding. He has special training in lymphoscintography and gastric bypass surgery.
Family
Dr. Strand and his wife Carlen have 2 children. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, classic cars, spending time with his family, and watching his son participate in hockey games.
