Teaching Experience
Dr. Thaemert is an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor and is active in the education of medical students and residents. He holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor from the University of South Dakota.

Special Interests
Dr. Thaemert has special interest in Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) and other minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures including robotics.  Other interests include general surgery; general thoracic surgery; trauma care; abdominal surgery; gastrointestinal surgery; diseases of the breast including stereotactic breast procedures; surgical oncology including sentinal lymph node biopsies; endoscopy; thyroid surgery; sclerotherapy; and obesity surgery including gastric bypass and laparoscopic adjustable banding. He has special training in gastric bypass surgery.

Family
Dr. Thaemert and his wife Jana have 3 daughters and they enjoy family vacations, skiing, and biking.
